Eric Millstein - The Curtis Institute of Music

Eric Millstein is a percussionist with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and serves as principal percussion and assistant timpanist for the Grant Park Music Festival. He frequently performs with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and can be heard on a several of that orchestra’s recordings. He has also appeared on the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s MusicNOW contemporary chamber series.

Mr. Millstein has been on the faculty of the DePaul University School of Music since 2004. He has presented clinics at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention and the Illinois Day of Percussion; and has led classes at the Interlochen Arts Academy, Tanglewood Music Center, and the Percussion Symposium at Northwestern University.

Mr. Millstein received a Bachelor of Music degree from the New England Conservatory and a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy from Tufts University. He earned a Master of Music degree from Temple University and completed his education as a member of the New World Symphony. His principal teachers were Nora Davenport, Will Hudgins, and Alan Abel.

Mr. Millstein joined the faculty of the Curtis Institute of Music in 2014.
